Local museums use Saturday to clown around

Funny hats, painted faces, and big red noses were the proper attire at the Austin Museum of Art on Saturday.

The Museum opened a new exhibit called The Circus in 20th Century American Art and invited circus fans of all ages to clown around a little.

A Family Fun Day kicked off the traveling exhibit's arrival.

The exhibit features about a hundred pictures, paintings and figures representing the role of the circus in American society.

Connie Leaverton juggled at the Children's Museum on Saturday.

There was some clowning around at the Austin Children's Museum on Saturday as well.

Kids and their families got to see a live show that included juggling, comedy and dance.

Texas performer Connie Leaverton has taken her act all over the world.

"What I enjoy the most about performing for people is the amazing smiles and laughter that happens. Their smiles and their faces just light up. And it just makes my whole day," Leaverton said.

Local kids produce music video

It's lights, camera, action at Dobie Middle School this week.

Connie Leaverton, the project instructor, said it's a fun learning process for the kids.

"The Dobie Middle School has been absolutely awesome. Working with these kids are great, and I'm really proud of them. They are just making headway learning about video production. I'm proud of them," she said.

The students worked as directors, set designers and camera operators.

Leaverton will edit the tape for Friday's final screening.
